Tri's Sure Ain't Cheap - My favorite toys

I remember back in the day when all I had to do was grab my running shoes and I was set to go.  At that time the most expensive running related device I owned was probably my HR monitor/GPS unit. :) Fast forward to my new triathlon life. Swimsuits, Goggles, Ear plugs, Wetsuit, Bike (road and/or TT), Bike Shoes, Helmet, Power meter, Cadence sensor, Bike case, Training Shoes, Racing shoes/flats, Endurance Nutrition, Travel expenses, Entry fees..etc etc etc.  And don't even get me started on tri clothing.....HOLY CRAP that stuff is expensive, unless of course you're like me and only buy it when its on a REALLY good sale.  With all that in mind I know you don't need all these things to train and compete in a triathlon BUT all these goodies sure do make the training even more fun!

Out of all my triathlon toys I would say these are my favorite:
My Newton Running Shoe :)  Now I understand that maybe you don't know anything about Newton Running and that you might not think they are for you BUT don't judge too quickly! They gave me back my running!! The shoes were a tool that helped me adapt and change my running stride and at this point I won't run in anything else.  Added bonus is the company has great customer service and great people that work there! Very helpful, very informative and the shoes..WORTH EVERY PENNY!!  http://www.newtonrunning.com

Next would be my NEW wetsuit. LOVE IT LOVE IT!! Its the Frequency by Nineteen and it is SO comfortable!! Being as tall as I am (just shy of 6'1) and having a build like a swimmer a lot of suits don't fit as well through the shoulders. The first time I put this on it felt different. Easier to put on, easier to take off and it fits like a glove.  I was between size according to their size chart so I went with the smaller size (M) just to make sure suit wasn't too big. I test drove it in OW yesterday and I just have to say WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE a higher quality suit makes. I never would have imagined it, but it really does!  http://www.nineteenwetsuits.com

After that I would say my CycleOps Power Tap Wireless Power Meter.  Its a great tool for training and allows you to train off of
more information than just your heart rate.  Since using this my coach and I have probably double my max power output and now I'm able to simulate different training situation according to wattage output.  http://www.cycleops.com

Lastly but surely not leastly........CTS-Carmichael Training Systems !  Last March my husband found CTS and my coach Nick White and all I have to say is they sure know what they are doing. Its an absolute treat to be able to have a coach and I adore Nick.  I'll be training with him as long as he can stand me ;P  ha ha....and I know we'll get to an Ironman Distance!  My first HIM is next June. YIPPEE  If you have ever thought of getting an online coach check them out  http://www.trainright.com    But you aren't allowed to train with Nick....HE'S BUSY!  (jk)
